Rozafa Castle

Rozafa Castle is one of the most prominent and historically layered landmarks in Albania, proudly towering over the city of Shkodër. Situated strategically on a steep rocky limestone hill, it oversees the intersection of three major rivers: the Buna, the Drin, and the Kir.

Founded during antiquity by the Illyrians and later expanded by the Romans, Venetians, and Ottomans, the fortress walls are a mosaic of architectural influences that tell the story of the region's long and turbulent history of sieges and conquests.
